Here are some causes of a noisy dryer
Motor: A defective motor can cause a bevy of sounds like a rattling noise from a loose pulley, a high-pitched noise from a broken bearing or a humming noise from a bad winding or switch on the motor. The drum belt or blower wheel might need to be removed to isolate the motor as the source of the noise.
Blower wheel: The blower wheel is what draws in air from the heating chamber through the drum and out the vent. Blower wheels are made of plastic and can wear out over time. The signs of a worn out blower wheel are a loud thumping or roaring noise.
Here is a list of what might be causing your dryer not to tumble
Belt: Dryers use a belt attached to the motor to turn the drum. Over the years, the belt can wear out. If dryer won’t tumble, check the belt to see if it is worn out or broken.
Motor: A defective motor can cause your dryer to not start or tumble. The humming noise described above will be noticeable. To figure out whether a motor is defective, the front panel and the drum need to be removed. A line voltage test will be needed to determine if the motor is defective. Warning: A live voltage test should be conducted by a certified technician.
